1:18. તમે જાણો છો કે ભૂતકાળમાં તમ નિરર્થક જીવન જીવતા હતા. તમારા પહેલા જીવી ગયેલા લોકો પાસેથી તમને આવું જીવન વારસામાં મળ્યું હતું. પરંતુ તે પ્રકારની જીવન પદ્ધતિમાંથી તમને બચાવી લેવામા આવ્યા છે, તમને ખરીદવામાં આવ્યા છે. પરંતુ સોના કે ચાંદી જેવી નાશવંત વસ્તુઓથી નહિ.

1:18. You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed— not by perishable things like silver or gold,

1:18. For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver.

1:18. knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;

1:18. knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,

1:18. Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers;

1:18. You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver.
